Jay-z Speaks on StarRoc & Possibly signing Janet,50 Cent,JD,Beyonce?

Jay-Z official confirmed his new partnership with production duo StarGate and his project of creating a recording company called StarRoc Music Publishing.

Both parties issue a statement, saying, "the focus is to find new talent and develop artists through mutually beneficial global partnerships which include music distribution, publishing, touring and merchandising."

StarRoc becomes the first partnership for Roc Nation, Jay-Z's official venture with concert and global distribution giant Live Nation.

"StarGate were like a secret weapon," said Jay-Z. "We had great success with Rihanna and Ne-Yo. In only 2 years, they've generated 10 singles in the Top 10 on Billboard's Hot 100 chart and 3 of those singles hit the # 1 position. This has been a rewarding partnership and it was time to take the creative venture to the next level."

The Norwegian production duo was responsible for hit singles by Ne-Yo (So Sick and Sexy Love), Rihanna (Unfaithful), Beyonce (Irreplaceable) and others.

In additional news, a source reveals that Jay-Z wants to sign Janet Jackson, 50 Cent, Beyonce Knowles, and Jermaine Dupri to his new recording company.

"Jay-Z approached 50 Cent earlier this year and now he's talking to Janet and Jermaine Dupri... It seems like a difficult task to get so many big artists under one roof, but I wouldn't put anything past [Jay-Z]," the source says.

"[Jay-Z] is probably the only person in music that could put together the financing to make [signing] talent of that caliber possible," the source continued.

SanDisk Attempting 'SlotMusic' As New Form of Music Media

It's called slotMusic, and it's basically an album on a thumbnail-size microSD card. Four of the major music labels -- Warner, Universal, Sony, EMI -- are supporting it with MP3, unprotected music. So you'd go into a Wal-Mart, pay about $10 for the card, and slip it into your cell phone or any other gadget with a card slot. SanDisk says it will be almost as simple to use as putting a CD in a player. The MP3 songs can be moved around or copied anywhere. And you can write to the card, adding more of your own music into whatever storage space is left.
