NIKE Vintage Vandal Pack Now Available

One of the best releases from Nike Vintage is this pack of three original colorways of the nylon Nike Vandal. The pack which started hitting stores (in the US) about a week ago should have hit most retailers by now and have just hit nikestore.com for those who still can’t find them. Each sneaker features the use of nylon on the upper with a nice contrasting swoosh, the red features a silver swoosh, the silver features a red swoosh and the black features a gold swoosh. And all three are aged to perfection, slightly weathered with yellowed midsoles - fresh out of the box.

Available now @ NikeStore.com

Air Jordan True Flight

The Air Jordan True Flight may look like a take down of the Air Jordan 7 but hidden behind its looks is really an updated version of the Air Jordan 7 with some of the technologies that’s been developed since the AJ7 dropped in 1992. The updates included a flatter sole combined with Zoom Air for better cushioning and herringbone in the outsole for better traction.

The Air Jordan True Flight will drop next January 17th 2009 for $140.

FSD & Rhymefest Present: The Great Debaters Vol. 1 featuring Killer Mike

I’d like to welcome you, the readers, to FSD and Rhymefest’s latest project, one we’ve been diligently working on over the past few weeks: The Great Debaters.

These series of debates will open up the forums and allow your favorite rappers to stand on their respective soap boxes and battle, debate style, with the one and only El Che over topics ranging from race, hip hop, sex, religion, politics and much, much more. This first segment was a spur of the moment phone conversation that quickly turned into a debate, so this week it will be typed, but going forward you can look for these debates to stream via podcast or come in video format.

The first installment of our Great Debaters series takes us down to ATL to debate with Killer Kill from Adamsville. Bang, bang, bang.

I. Haterville. Economics or just Hate?

AB: So Mike, you were at the Ozone Awards a few weeks ago in Houston, right?

KM: Of course I was, I’m from the soooooouth.

AB: Okay, well you know that Chicago is referred to, by some, as “Haterville”, and a lot of people claim we don’t support our artists here. However, in the South, it seems like there’s a lot of unity and camaraderie – at least that’s the way it’s perceived in the media. But at the Ozone Awards it seems like chaos with all the fights and what not

KM: In the south, there’s always going to be internal squarmishes. Shit, it goes back years and years – Master P and Pimp C was beefin’. 10 years ago Suave House and Rap-A-Lot was beefin’. But in the South it appears we are able to rebound from our beef quicker – we get off that bullshit a lot quicker and get back to making money quicker, and it usually don’t take a death. We have gangs in the South, be we aren’t as married to the principle of gangs like in Chicago. See down here, we tend to call racism what it is, so we tend to self-segregate. If you put a bunch of us Southerners in Chicago, we probably ain’t gonna seek out Lake Shore Drive – if we comfortable in our neighborhood we gonna stay there. We ain’t gonna go out and try to mingle without our people, so our problems have to be worked out a little quicker.

AB: Fest, what are your thoughts on the unity in the South versus up here?

NIKE... Then Zvezdockha... Now Rejuven8

2004
Pictured : Nike Zvezdochka

Launched in the Japanese magazine Marc Newson as a multi purpose shoe for cosmonauts, it's named for the Russian space dog that ventured aboard Sputnik 10 in 1961. While it may look like a reinvention of the Jelly, it promises to be the next major accomplishment in footwear engineering.

Air Rejuven8 “A hard day of training should be followed by a day of easy training.” - Bill Bowerman

Designed with an intense focus on comfort and breathability, Nike launches the Air Rejuven8, an innovation that rejuvenates the foot during an athletes day off the field.

Nike’s heritage of 35 years of innovation “The great thing about innovating at NIKE is that we have iconic heritage products to draw from,” says Pam Greene.

With help from the Innovation Kitchen team, and drawing from the experience of designers like Bob Mervar, who designed the Presto; Tinker Hatfield, creator of the Air Huarache; Sean McDowell, who brought the Air Kukini to the triathlon world; and Bruce Kilgore who invented the Sock Racer; Pam built upon their foundation concepts and pushed them to the next level of rejuvenating comfort and aesthetic functionality. The Zvezdockha, Nike’s innovation project with designer Marc Newson, introduced the idea of modularity to the NIKE family, and the Air Rejuven8 makes it accessible from a consumer and athletic standpoint. The Air Rejuven8 is the latest evolution and fusion of the aforementioned shoes in the NIKE family tree, combining great fit, breathability, and support in a seriously fun way that only Nike can deliver.

Nike Zoom Lebron VI UWR in Full Detail

He is a basketball player who can do it all. He is unstoppable both on the court and off, he is the king Both comfortable and flexible, beautiful and stylish, the Zoom LeBron VI not only represents LeBron James, but lets LeBron stay in control. The Zoom LeBron VI, the newest of the signature line, is the most versatile shoe for the most versatile athlete—LeBron James.

Working closely with LeBron, Footwear Design Director Ken Link created a shoe that represents the essence of LeBron James: team, toughness, passion, and vision. It’s all about durability, strength, and comfort on and off the court. A quick and powerful player, LeBron provides a little something for everyone. At 6-foot-8, LeBron can play all five positions. His love of basketball transcends the game; it’s about the basketball life and style. The Zoom LeBron VI, the latest in the signature series, designed specifically for the performance needs of LeBron James but transcends beyond the court.

Basketball players need footwear that is not only cushioned but also durable—it needs to last the length of the season. Players such as LeBron need footwear that is both comfortable and flexible, a shoe that lets them stay in control. The Zoom LeBron VI not only has a full-length Nike Zoom unit in the midsole for the ultimate responsive ride, but also has Nike Zoom double-stacked in the heel. The cushioning system helps the forefoot for transition when jumping. Deep sipes in the shoe allow for natural motion, which means the shoe works with the athlete’s movement, rather than against it.

The Zoom LeBron VI gives the wearer confidence while playing on and off the court. The shoe’s collar has been engineered with a wider opening so that it’s easier to slip on and wear while maintaining a full-length fit feel. On the collar, graffiti art highlights LeBron’s mantras—passion, family, winning, fearless, and vision.

Zoom LeBron VI
Quickness meets power. This is the most versatile shoe for the most versatile athlete—LeBron James.
• Lightweight natural motion outsole
• Full-length Nike Zoom
• Double-stacked Nike Zoom in the heel
• Dual-density basketball transition midsole
• Lateral stability rand
• Breathable tongue
• Inner sleeve with a traditional lacing system
• Phylon midsole design that minimizes weight while maximizing cushioning
• Carbon-fiber cup in the heel for stability
• Siping on the inside of the midsole

The “Nike We the People Graphic” draws inspiration from a number of cultural elements and design influences to create a bold aesthetic specific to the USA. The graphic, created by Design Director Mark Smith, leverages Nike’s Aerographics technology. With Aerographics, Nike designers are able to incorporate mesh directly into a garment without any extra materials or added weight. Both the “Nike We the People Graphic” and Aerographics technology are highlighted in the 2008 USA Basketball, Track and Field, Softball and BMX team uniforms.

When creating the graphic, Nike designers were drawn to tattoos as the first point of inspiration, specifically looking at how the graphic design could align directly to the athlete’s body. The multi-faceted graphic tells the story of many cultures coming together under the common theme of victory. Just like a tattoo on the body, the pattern of the graphic is darker than the base color surrounding it.

Specific elements of the design include:
- The Statue of Liberty, represented by the torch
- Stars and stripes representing the 50 American states
- The date of the signing of the Declaration of Independence
- Decorative elements from our nations’ currency
- The olive branch and arrows from the talons of the American eagle in the Presidential seal
- Celtic, African and Native American symbols and influences
- A bleeding heart representing Hispanic culture

T.I. Pissed Over The Leak Of His New Tracks.

On Friday, thousands of hip-hop fans might have felt just like the Geto Boys' Bushwick Bill: "Ah man, homie, my mind's playin' tricks on me!" A song called "Swagger Like Us" -- featuring the rap dream team of T.I., Jay-Z, Lil Wayne and Kanye West -- leaked onto the Internet. How could a song so big -- a real song, too, not something a DJ patched together by extracting verses from other records -- just appear out of nowhere?
One of the record's stars has some questions of his own: T.I. would like to know how the song leaked. It's one of the premier records from his forthcoming LP, Paper Trail. The album -- which Tip previewed for MTV News back in May -- isn't due out until September 30, and the King of the South said the cut wasn't supposed to be debuted so soon.
"That's some bullsh--," a disappointed Tip told MTV News Saturday afternoon (August 23) via phone. "I'm beating down the Internet as we speak."
The MC -- who will perform a song from Paper Trail at the MTV Video Music Awards on September 7 -- obviously isn't upset with how well "Swagger Like Us" (or "S.L.U.") turned out or even the immediate positive reaction it's gotten. He just had planned on presenting his song properly rather than having it just thrown out there. He said it could have been "that much bigger" if he'd had the chance to roll it out in grand fashion.
"Don't ruin the event," he lamented. "Wait till the cake comes out the kitchen before you eat it. That's like a kid who sees his toys before Christmas; it takes away from me and I think it takes away from the fans as well. When it's time, I'mma give it to you. They leaked my record with me and The-Dream ["Like I Do"] too. Leakage is never a problem I have had. I'm not used to it."
Tip theorized that the high anticipation for Paper Trail may be the reason why songs such as "S.L.U.," "Like I Do" and "Life of the Party" (the latter isn't even slated to be on the LP) have found their way onto the Internet without his permission, but he quickly said "that's neither here nor there" and moved onto discussing the creation of "S.L.U."
"It's been done about a month," he said. "It was a song that Kanye and I had done first; me featuring Kanye. An idea had presented itself -- 'What if we included these people and made it an event record?' -- and I was like, 'That's a very ambitious idea but a lovely one.' "
Soon after, Hov and Weezy submitted verses. Jay liked the song so much that Tip said it will also appear on Jay's The Blueprint 3 album later this year. He did note that Paper Trail is where it will officially be released first.
"Swagger Like Us" was produced by Kanye West and features a sample of M.I.A.'s ubiquitous "Paper Planes," where she declares "No one on the corner got swagger like us." Kanye, who compares his swagger to singer Mick Jagger, starts off with punchlines aplenty: "I know I got it first/ I'm Christopher Columbus, y'all just the Pilgrims/ How it feel to wake up and be the sh--and the urine?/ Nah-na-na, trying to get that Kobe number, one over Jordan."
Jay follows -- "You can pay for school, but you can't buy class" -- Weezy bats third and Tip is the cleanup hitter. T.I. raps about his real-life controversies and how he doesn't worry about other rappers. "Sell a lot of records, I respect it and salute that/ But spitting real life on hot beats, I'm the truth at/ When you kick it like me, no exaggeration necessary."
In addition to the aforementioned trio of guests, Paper Trail has even more A-list guests: Usher has been added to "My Life, Your Entertainment," Rihanna appears on "Living My Life" and Justin Timberlake joins him on "Dead and Gone."
"I really appreciate it, man," Tip said humbly about the support he's gotten from his peers. "It's definitely an honor, man, to be among the elite in the game. To have as much respect from them as they have for me is also a privilege. I just wanna live up to all the expectations."
He talked a bit about "Dead and Gone," the Timberlake collaboration. "Basically, man, it's about the lessons I've learned in life, the old me being dead and gone. How I've changed, how my life has taken new meaning."
Surprisingly, a Kanye West cameo has been removed from a song on the album: "Sitting on Top of the World," which features B.O.B. from T.I.'s Grand Hustle label.
"Kanye's verse has been swapped," Tip said. "I still have Kanye's verse so maybe we'll do a remix down the line."
T.I.'s current video and single is "Whatever You Like." Videos have also been shot for "Swing Your Rag" and "What Up."

The Wire's 'Snoop' Arrested Over Murder Trial

Police arrested popular actress Felicia "Snoop" Pearson on minor drug charges on Wednesday (August 20), after she was detained for refusing to cooperate as a witness in a murder trial.

Members of Baltimore's Homicide Unit entered Snoop's Northeast Baltimore home with a "body attachment" warrant, which allowed authorities to arrest and detain her.

Once inside, they also found two cigars filled with what is allegedly marijuana as well as marijuana residue.

Police may detain Snoop until September 16, when the murder trial of her associate Steven James Lashley begins.

Lashley is accused of stabbing three men - one fatally - outside a Baltimore New York Fried Chicken, in Snoop's defense.

Snoop had been involved in an argument inside the restaurant with Tyrell Roseborough.

Snoop had apparently offended Roseborough, who became verbally abusive when Snoop refused his advances. Police entered the establishment and ended the fracas.

The incident flared up again outside because of the proximity of their vehicles, which were all parked near Water and Commerce streets, police said.

Lashley eventually pulled out a knife and stabbed the three men, fatally wounding one of the three.

Snoop already told investigators that she wasn't involved in the stabbing.

“He [Roseborough] ain’t try to flirt with me or no [s**t] like that,” Pearson told investigators. “It was so tight in there...I’m like what [s**t] man get out of my face.”

According to The Baltimore Sun, a warrant was issued for Snoop on July 1, after she missed an April 21 trial date.

She also recently avoided prosecutors' phone calls in regards to the trial.

Snoop was sentenced to eight years in prison in 1996 at the age of 14, for shooting and killing Okia "Kia" Toomer during a dispute between the two females.

Her life is chronicled in her recently released memoirs, titled Grace After Midnight.

BREAKING NEWS: Da Brat Gets Three Years In Prison

Chart topping rapper Da Brat was sentenced to three years in prison today (August 22), after being charged with assault for hitting a woman in the face with a bottle of rum.

The prison sentence stems from a November 2007 incident, in which Da Brat, born Shawntae Harris, argued with Shala Stevens, a waitress working at Jermaine Dupri’s Club 72.

Stevens, a budding model, Atlanta Falcons cheerleader and actress, suffered deep lacerations to her cheek and swelling to her forehead.

Stevens, who is represented by power attorney Willie Gary and CK Hoffler in a civil lawsuit, also suffered permanent disfigurement and mental distress as a result of the attack.

"Ms. Stevens is a cheerleader, choreographer, dancer, actress and entrepreneur, whose career has been greatly affected by this incident," Gary told AllHipHop.com in a previous statement.

Stevens was also forced to pull out of an upcoming role on Tyler Perry’s sitcom House of Pain due to the injuries she sustained in the assault.

Da Brat must also serve seven years of probation and complete 200 hours of community service.

In 2000, Da Brat was charged with pistol whipping another patron at the Chili Pepper nightclub in Atlanta.

She pleaded guilty, was fined and sentenced to a year of probation.

Da Brat has worked with artists like Mariah Carey, Missy Elliott, Lil Kim, Ludacris, Dem Franchize Boyz, Kelly Rowland and others

NIKE Free Hybrid Boot Premium

As the Summer season is now drawing to a close, it seems a lot of manufacturers are turning to darker colorways, as well as some interesting material and texture choices. This Nike Free Hybrid Boot Premium stands out from the crowd, primarily due to its quilted patterning on black leather. The quilting combined with the quality premium leather definitely gives these shoes quite the high class look, and the boot outline combined with the Nike Free sole definitely gives these a unique visual aspect all their own. Scheduled to drop as part of the Nike Holiday 08 collection along with a set of Air Max 1’s as part of a Quilted Pack, these are definitely a solid drop for Nike.

RH Exclusive : GLC - Years in the Making

Chicago born GLC, short for Gangster L. Crisis, advised the world to ‘drive slow’ on Kanye West’s ’05 smash of the same name. It should come as no surprise then that as bloggers, DJ’s, and fans alike clamor for the long awaited debut, Love, Life, and Loyalty, GLC remains cool, calm, and collected. While he looks forward to sharing his album with the world, he appeared to be in no rush to release new material during our conversation at Chicago’s Soundscape studio. He’s been around enough years, and enough successful Hip Hop artists to know that having the right plan is just as important as the right sound.

“I could come out with an album tomorrow if I choose to, and then be disappointed cause I had no proper setup," he said. “Without the proper setup, it’s like you’re wasting your time.”

While the slow rolling drums and laid back flow of “Drive Slow” can still be used to describe his manner, it’s another Kanye line that can be used to illustrate his mindset. Just as Kanye rapped on “Lollipop,” “I don’t do it for my health man, I do it for the belt, man,” so too goes GLC. The everyday hero from 87th street is not interested in being the man of the moment, but is eying a longer legacy.

“I’m not doing this just to say I rap. Naw, that’s not what it is. I want the respect, I want the honor, I want the recognition, and yes I do want the glory. And from that I’ll be able to change so many people’s lifestyles.”

A change for the better is something that GLC underwent thanks to the guidance and opportunities afforded him through Kanye West. It is a fact not lost on the hustler turned full-time music maker. That’s why he continues to return to the ghettos of Chicago, wisdom, understanding, and respect in hand. His demeanor has made him one of the most beloved figures in Chicago’s Hip Hop scene, and with his upcoming mixtape, as well as a starring role in NFL Blitz, he has a strong chance to grow his name and brand.

In this RH exclusive interview, GLC speaks about his timing and approach to his debut album, learning from Kanye West, and the powers of Karma.

A-Trak / NIKE+ Sneaker & Mix

Hot on the heels of critically acclaimed original releases by The Crystal Method, LCD Soundsystem and Aesop Rock, DJ/producer A-Trak joins forces with Nike to launch his debut record Running Man: Nike+ Original Run as the next release for the Nike+ Original Run Series. The Montreal native produced this 45-minute composition specifically for runners, gradually building from a warm-up period, incorporating an extended middle section that finds a pavement-pounding groove, and ending with a downtempo closure for cooling down.

A highlight from the beginning segment, “Say Whoa,” will serve as A-Trak’s inaugural artist single, offered exclusively by Nike Sport Music. The mix also features a show-stopping appearance by recently hyped Fool’s Gold signee Kid Cudi. The original mix is part of the run-up to The Nike+ Human Race, the world's largest one-day running event.

On August 31, 2008, an expected one million runners in 25 cities across the globe will partake in a 10k that combines the power of running and music through sport and also gives participants the chance to run for a cause and support charities who have a positive impact on the world. At 45 minutes long, Running Man: Nike+ Original Run is ideal background music for runners looking to mix things up while training for the event.

The fourth installment of the Nike+ Original Run series, A-Trak’s Running Man: Nike+ Original Run is available exclusively in the Nike Sport Music section of the iTunes Store.
