NIKE Jordan 1 Blue
Nike Cortez FLYMOTION... Coming Soon
Along with its elder Cortez brothers in leather and suede, the Cortez Fly Motion will debut Spring/Summer 2009. This new version is a cutting-edge version of the iconic Cortez that puts a premium on reduced weight in the upper. Built on the same retooled platform as the Cortez, the Cortez Fly Motion fuses Flywire technology developed for Nike’s highest performance track shoe, the Zoom Victory Spike, into the design. The overall look of the Nike Cortez retains the integrity of the original Cortez featuring an oversized swoosh and an upper of nylon and suede. It’s instantly recognizable as the Cortez, but remixed with Natural Motion technology to improve function and form of the shoe. To attain a more comfortable ride the Cortez dual-density EVA midsole was replaced with injected Phylon, making the Cortez lighter without compromising on stability. A series of deep flex grooves were laser cut following the herringbone tread pattern, enabling the Cortez to offer unrivaled flexibility while becoming lighter than ever.

For the Summer...
In what may be their simplest skate shoe yet, Nike has taken it back to basics with the Drifter 6.0. Quite possibly inspired by some classic Vans models, the Drifter takes that old school look, but modernizes it with a few choice touches. The most noticeable of which is the stitching on the upper and the scribble graphics on the tongue and heel. The shoe also utilizes a suede upper and striped vulcanized midsole and comes with some very cool patterned laces. The Drifter will be available in three colorways for starters. Black/glass blue/red, pine/white and orion blue/purple versions will be available sometime in Fall ‘09

FakeShoreDrive on Chicago Reader
Props to AB...
This citywide unity—as well as Barber’s newfound pull in the scene—is evident in Fake Shore Drive’s first mix tape, due for release as a free download sometime in early February. Assembled with the help of DJ Timbuck2 from WGCI (107.5 FM), The Chicagorilla Ape Tape Vol. 1includes tracks from Kanye wingmen like GLC and Really Doe, radio-friendly street dudes like Twista and Gemstones, conscious-leaning MCs like Lupe and Pugs Atomz, and party starters like Hollywood Holt. Everything on it is previously unreleased, given to Fake Shore Drive as an exclusive, and so far only a few cuts have escaped onto the Internet—leaked by the artists, Barber figures. It’s named after the Fake Shore Drive mascot—Barber thinks his is probably the only hip-hop blog to have one—which is basically a dude in a huge, disturbing gorilla suit.
The mix tape’s quality and the “volume one” in its title both suggest Barber has a future as a rap anthologist, but for now keeping the blog fed and watered is still his top priority. “Somebody has to run the circus,” he says.
